Obama engages the Muslim World...

As the leader of "one of the "largest Muslim countries" in the world, I'm sure Barack Hussein Obama will find a warm welcome in the Saudi kingdom.

How do Republicans "get" to call Obama a Muslim - and at the same time "hit" him for the unquestionable Christian, Rev. Wright, at the same time? It's as foolish as the "birth certificate" matter.

how blessed we all are to be alive while our dear leader is doing the hard work to bring peace to this world. The mere fact that we have a leader willing to reach out with an open hand and not a clenched fist. We are the ones we have been waiting for, hope and change!

What's with all the excitement over meeting with one of the world's sponsors of terrorism? Or over calling the world's most brutal cult-religion a respectable thing? Is this a "say goodbye to American values" tour our President is on?

If we do not make peace with the world, after the insolent arrogant way George W. Bush the little klown prince ruled, we will have not world to worry about.

If America does not mature, or cannot mature beyond the fundamentalist religious buffoonery that is now advanced to the murdering of doctors, then we will become the enemy of the world.

We must have PEACE IN OUR TIME. That or misery and destruction. That is the goal. That must be the message.

All humans deserve respect. All cultures are equal. All religions are equal, they are the same with different patterns

Honestly, I think he's safer there. It scares the bejebbers out of me every time he runs out for a burger. I don't care if he waits for the press but he sure as heck better be waiting for those dudes with the lapel pins.

Bush was very good news for India. But I disliked him and his stupid vision...

Yet, personally, I feel what Obama has achieved is commendable, yet, we should probably discuss him after a year or so...when he has more work to speak for him...

@Alltalk: When someone opens his mouth and words that flow are of peace, inclusiveness and humanity - I am sold. I will write more one of these days...

@Rabbit: I have not come across any expert on US-India relation who call Barkat Husain as a bad news for India. Consider this:

- When he arrived in Inodnesia as a kid, the first thing he noticed one the way from aiport was a huge statue of God Hanuman.
- He wears a bracelet with the image of Hanuman on it. He loves Hanuman.
- There are more numbers of " Hindus" in his cabinet then ever before...
- He is the only president to have used the word Hindu at his inauguration. No president has ever done that before.

In spite of these FACTS...you THINK Obama is a bad news for India...Hmmm

omg ... that was too much info.
and i knew nothing.
hmmmm looks like he really wishes good for India.

@Rabbit: Dont you think we ALL need to GOOGLE, before we pass judgments that will affect not only us, but also our relatives, kids, and neighbours?

We owe it to ourselves, to this world - a little fact finding research brother. Thanks....Appreciate it...

yes you are right...
we should get the facts right.

@Ye Manzilen - I don't think wearing a Hanuman is the key. That he respects all major religions is good and a welcome change from the previous presidency.
But I guess people expect a lil more from the world's most powerful man.

I think his policies might not be in favor of India.

Turning Protectionist isn't going to help the US. Corporate America is suffering coz of it's greed.

Obama is a well read guy. Hope he realizes that the world's biggest Capitalist nation cannot turn protectionist over night. Not a good example to set...

Allatlk: I dont want to sound Defending Obama, his work will speak in a few years itself but I must add a bit here:

- These small choices we make reflect our true colors. Big decisions need approval from the congress. He has hired 8 hindus in his cabinet. No president will match that. Latest being he created a new post of Chief Tech Officer and hired Anish Chpora to run it.

He is not going to be the President for the Hindus or the Muslims or Christians but a PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD...

Protectionism: What choice does he have? He got the job because of impending depression and the anxiety created after the fall of Lehman Brothers. He ran on the platform of creating and bringing jobs back. In is speeches he made it clear some jobs will never come back. He got a lot of flak for saying that truth from right wing west of Atlantic Ocean.

He is a author of two books. His whole life is on favor of HUMANITY with no regard to the geo political boundaries of the World.

In him we have the first president of the world...enjoy the ride!

I have a lot of "hard core" right wing friends here, and we discuss with him a lot. The problem that HE, and us face is that we can not conceive a a Husain, or a Barkat or anyone with other Muslim sounding names to hold those values of Humanity, fairness, vision, peace, justice and progress.

Yaar log from both the side of the aisle (and Muslim themselves) have done an excellent job of creating that image.

We are willing to believe in a jiffy any negative news associated with those names.....positve ka locha hai.

You nailed it bang on !

No one here thinks that Muslims are terrorists or fanatics. But again, a LOT depends on educated, liberal and "thinking" Muslims to come forward and help do away with that image. You have to stand up and say that this is not what Islam promotes...

Just like what Indian Muslims did when the burial issue of 26/11 Terrorists arose...

anyway, this is what Deepak Chopra thinks of Obama's speech...and I agree in most parts...

Liberals have to stand up if they want Islam to get back it's respect..
